Woman dies after office drinking bet

A woman died of ethanol poisoning after accepting a 100 yuan ($15) bet from her colleagues todrink a full bottle of strong rice wine, Nanfang Daily reported Thursday.
A court in Guangdong province ruled the five colleagues who made the bet, along with theiremployer, should pay a total of 120,000 yuan in compensation to the dead woman's family. Butthe family has appealed the ruling by Nanhai court in Foshan, demanding a compensationpackage up to 640,000 yuan, the paper said.
The deceased, known as A Yun, was working at a real estate company in Foshan on March 1when she finished an entire bottle of the hard liquor. She was found dead on an office desk ashort time later.
The local hospital cited the cause of her death as ethanol poisoning, according to thenewspaper.
